August 2021 – Saba/St. Kitts

Caribbean Explorer II, Saba to St. Kitts

August 14 – 21, 2021

“unique live aboard experiences in the world’s most sought-after destinations.”

The Saba – St. Kitts Livea board itinerary, combining diving and optional island access, has always been unique within the live aboard diving industry. As a dedicated dive live aboard, all diving is done directly off of the vessel, using the expansive dive deck covering the aft third of the main deck. Each diver has his or her own dive gear bin; a large camera table, as well as rinse tanks, wetsuit drying racks, charging stations are available for all to use.

Saba, known for its submerged offshore pinnacles, is the 5 square mile top of a dormant volcano towering 3,000 feet above the surface and surrounded by volcanic sand. The abrupt topography above the sea is mirrored below, and the profusion of marine life attests to the early institution of the Saba Marine Park in 1987.

The diving in Saba is incredible. Protected as a national marine park, this divers dream is filled with sharks, turtles, tons of tropical fish species, and coral of all shapes and colors. Most of the sea bottom is made up of coral boulders. The remains of volcanic activity under the surface “ lava stone towers called Pinnacles are remarkable. Pinnacles rising from the seabed up to 100 meters are covered by corals.

St. Kitts reefs provide a good hiding place for Spotted Drum, High Hat Arrow Crab and large lobsters. The island shore excursion of Saba is the most popular tour offered. This truly unique island offers beautiful scenery and viewpoints. The tour is a driving tour with various stops to take advantage of Saba’s natural beauty, accompanied by ongoing descriptions of local flora and fauna. Saba’s people subscribe to tradition in the construction of their buildings. You will quickly notice the white buildings and homes with their signature red roofs and green doors and shutters.
